Père Lachaise Cemetery, Paris, France

Maybe the most famous of all cemeteries, the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris receives more than 3.5 million visitors every year. Established in the early 1800s, this 17ha “garden cemetery” is the last resting place of celebrities like Honoré de Balzac, Gilbert Bécaud, Georges Bizet, Maria Callas, Frédéric Chopin ... the list goes on and on (and these were just a few names at the beginning of the alphabet). And of course there is the grave of Jim Morrison, iconic singer of the rock band The Doors, who died in Paris in 1971 at the age of 27.
